Artist's Comments

I did this quicky in an evening. If you spot spelling mistakes and the same, please tell me and I’ll try to fix it. English isn’t my native language but I did my best in such a short time. I don't pretend that this is THE RIGHT AND ONLY way to draw wings but it's my way.

This tutorial cover the basic feathered wing drawing and some additional infos on feather with visual examples of do’s and don’t’s.

I may do a bat/dragon wings tutorial if i get good feadback on this one.

Comments and critics always welcome!

Enjoy!

EDIT: It's a very large image file but it shouldn't be that long to long even for a phone modem.

EDIT2: Many, MANY thank for all the favs and comments on this! I mainly did this tutorial for the occasionnal request from my DevWatchers and never expected such an interest! :heart:

That's cool, we have info in common. I'm pretty sure I haven't missed anything though ;)

it's very good, because you added the knowledge necessary to undestand the wings, and you really look like you know your thing. Thanks!

English is not my native language either but I'll just point out a few mistakes I see (mostly superficial ;)):
- Point 1: an human -> a human
- Point 3: and give the -> and give them
- Common mistakes list: (point 2) ou slightly square -> or slightly squared
- Pointed Feather: recommand -> recommend

Thanks for this tutorial. I've never drawn realistic birds so I've learned some things with it. :)

This is exteremely useful. I never made drawings that involve wings before, nothing major anyway. I never thought that it could get pretty detail as described in your tutorial. I think bad / dragon wings tutorial will be great since I don't think many people had done that before. I personaly would love to know how those are done. =)

voilà un tutoriel très interressant, surtout pour moi qui ne sais pas dessiner les ailes... Merci beaucoup d'avoir travailler à faire ce "mode d'emploi"! ^__^
